The High Pass to Everest Base Camp Trek is a journey over the two high passes – The Renjo La pass and the Chola Pass and arrive at the foot of Mount Everest – Everest Base Camp. In addition, there will be a hike to the top of Kalapathar. This trail that takes you through the diverse trail – starting from the walk along the gushing Dudh Koshi river, through dense alpine forests, sherpa settlements , over the high passes and to the mountains. It is undoubtedly the most rewarding and doable trip for those who wish to do Everest Base Camp trip in a bit challenging way.

Day: 1
Arrival in Kathmandu Airport and transfer to hotel
One of our staff, usually your trek guide, awaits your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. After a warm welcome, upon your arrival, we will transfer you to hotel, followed by a welcome dinner in the evening and an informal briefing about the days ahead.
Day: 2
Sightseeing to Cultural Heritage sites of Kathmandu
Apart from being the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu is originally a place rich in cultural heritage sites. On this day, we take you on a half-day tour to visit the holy and precious stupas of Boudhanath and the Swoyambunath. Swoyambunath Stupa is also popularly known as the
Monkey Temple, due to the fact that its premises are also a home to monkeys. We also utilize some time checking up your gears and assist you do some last minute shopping – if necessary.
Day: 3
Fly to Lukla, then trek to Phakding
Early morning pick up at your hotel then transfer to domestic airport in Kathmandu for a 35 minutes adventurous flight to Lukla. Upon arrival in Lukla, we introduce you to rest of our trek staff, then we begin the trek to Phakding, which is short and pleasant. Gentle walk along the Dudhkoshi river and passing small sherpa settlement of Chuplung, Thado koshi and Ghat before arriving in Phakding.
Day: 4
Trek to Namche Bazaar
Our trek, today, begins on the gentle trail that goes through pine jungle, suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi river and pass by Monjo village. We continue our trek and we stop at the Sagarmatha National Park Entry point at Jorsalle. After completing check-post formalities we continue northward and cross over the gushing Dudh Koshi river using the spectacular suspension bridge, the Hillary Bridge. Then we ascend the steep trail all the way up to the Namche Bazaar. Given its fine geographic location Namche Bazaar was popular as the main local trade market in old days. Today it has developed with modern facilities of a town and is widely known as the sherpa capital of khumbu region.
Day: 5
Morning hike to Syangboche and descend back for acclimatization
We stay one more day at Namche for acclimatization. In the morning, we hike steep up the Syangboche, take tea break at Hotel Everest View while enjoying panaromic view of Everest and then walk down to our lodge in Namche. In the afternoon, just take rest or explore around Namche.
Day: 6
Trek to Thame
From Namche, we walk northwest direction on the gently sloped trail leading to the Thame village. Thame is a home to legendary Everest climbers and significant number of high altitude mountaineering workforce comes from Thame. At Thame, the Dechenling Monastery also called the Thame Monastery is a place one must visit.
Day: 7
Trek to Lungden
From Thame we trek northwards through the old trade and caravan route that leads to Nangpa la pass. Passing by potato and private grass fields we arrive at Lungden. Although we arrive here in just around four hours it is the best way to proceed in higher altitude.
Day: 8
Cross Renjo La Pass and arrive in Gokyo
Today is going to be an exciting and bit challenging part of this trek. We continue our walk higher on the steeper trail all the way up to the Renjo La pass, which is undoubtedly the best scenic view point in the Everest region. Then we descend down to our lodge beside the Gokyo lake.
Day: 9
Hike to Fifth Lake, Gokyo
There are five lake in the Gokyo area. The well known Gokyo lake is the third one of these. These lakes are spiritually important for the native Sherpas. Today we hike to the Fourth and Fifth lake, situated north of the main Gokyo lake. The trail is gentle and we walk on the flat grasslands. Upon arriving in the fifth lake we see the ChoOyu and Gyachung Khang at a very close distance.
Day: 10
Trek to Dragnag
We leave Gokyo taking a trail down the lake, then walk eastwards crossing over Nozumba glacier and arrive in Dragng by lunch time. Afternoon just relax and recover from previous walks.
Day: 11
Cross Cho La Pass and arrive in Dzongla
Cho La is the second pass of our trek. We start early morning and trek eastwards on the steeper trail up to the pass. Crossing of the pass can be little difficult in case of snowfall and may require walking on ice sometimes.
Day: 12
Trek to Lobuche
From Dzongla we trek a gentle trail to Lobuche. We arrive in Lobuche by Lunch time. Afternoon just relax at our lodge.
Day: 13
Hike to Everest Base Camp, overnight at Gorakshep
Around three hours walk from Lobuche we arrive at our lodge in Gorakshep. After a quick tea break and dropping of our luggage we trek all the way up to the Everest Base Camp, 5300m. In the spring, we can witness the expedition camps covering the whole base camp area. We walk back to Gorakshep for overnight stay.
Day: 14
Hike to Kalapathar and trek to Pheriche
Today’s exciting event starts with an early wake up at Gorakshep then we hike up Kalapathar before the dawn breaks in. Athough its cold we anxiously await the sunrise and as it happens we lay face-to-face with Everest facing us – lit in morning rays of the sun. Afterwards we head back to Gorakshep and continue further down to Pheriche for overnight stay.
Day: 15
Trek to Namche
From Pheriche we trek down passing by Pangboche, Deboche and Tengboche.
Day: 16
Trek to Lukla
The trek back to Lukla is also the same trail as before. Celebrate successful trip in the evening!
Day: 17
Fly back to Kathmandu
We take a flight back to Kathmandu and you have free time to relax and recover.
Day: 18
Half-day sightseeing
Today, we take you on a half-day sightseeing to one of the world heritage sites, either the Pashupatinath Temple or Patan Durbar Square or Bhaktapur Durbar Square. And you have the remaining time to do shopping or explore around Thamel.
Day: 19
Transfer to Airport for homebound departure
Depending on your flight timing we transfer you to the Tribuvan International Airport, Kathmandu approximately 2-3 hours before the flight.
