Itinerary
Day: 1
Arrival in Kathmandu Airport and transfer to hotel
One of our staff, usually your trek guide, awaits your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. After a warm welcome we will transfer you to hotel, followed by a welcome dinner in the evening and an informal briefing about the days ahead.
Day: 2
Sightseeing to Cultural Heritage sites of Kathmandu
Apart from being the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu is originally a place rich in cultural heritage sites. On this day, we take you on a half-day tour to visit the holy and precious stupas of Boudhanath and the Swoyambunath. Swoyambunath Stupa is also popularly known as the Monkey Temple, due to the fact that its premises are also a home to monkeys. We also utilize some time checking up your gears and assist you to do some last minute shopping – if necessary.
Day: 3
Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding
Early morning pick up at your hotel then transfer to domestic airport in Kathmandu for a 35 minutes adventurous flight to Lukla. Upon arrival in Lukla, we introduce you to rest of our trek staff; then we begin the trek to Phakding which is short and pleasant. Initially walking down the Dudh Koshi river and then heading north, through couple of small settlements, we reach our lodge in Phakding.
Day: 4
Trek to Namche Bazaar
Our trek, today, begins with walk through pine jungle then take short ascend up the trail leading to Benkar valley. Crossing the Dudh Koshi river on suspension bridge and passing by Monjo village we arrive at the Sagarmatha National Park Entry point at Jorsalle. After completing check-post formalities we continue northward and cross over the gushing Dudh Koshi river using the spectacular suspension bridge, the Hillary Bridge. Then we ascend steep trail all the way up to the Namche Bazaar. Given its fine geographic location Namche Bazaar was popular as the main local trade market in old days. Today it has developed with modern facilities of a town and is widely known as the sherpa capital of khumbu region.
Day: 5
Morning hike to Hotel Everest View and stay at the Sherpa village of Khumjung
From Namche we hike steep trail up the Syangboche, for the scenic mountain view including the Everest. Then explore around the sherpa village of Khumjung and stay overnight
Day: 6
Trek to Thame
Today we walk westwards passing by the Sherpa settlements of Khunde, Phurte, Thamo, Samde and then arrive in Thame. The trail is gentle. Thame is a home to Sherpa climbers including that of legendary climber Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. Even today significant numbers of Sherpa manpower in mountaineering sector comes from Thame. Unlike Namche you can see typical Sherpa lifestyle in Thame.
Day: 7
Trek to Monjo
From Thame we walk down hill to Namche. After having lunch in Namche we continue our walk down to Monjo.
Day: 8
Trek to Lukla
We take the same trail back to Lukla and celebrate the last day of our trip at our lodge.
Day: 9
Fly back to Kathmandu
We take a flight back to Kathmandu and you have free time to relax and recover.
Day: 10
Transfer to Airport for homebound departure
Depending on your flight timing we transfer you to the Tribuvan International Airport, Kathmandu approximately 2-3 hours before the flight.
